Made in North Wales: Social Prescribing Conference

The Co-production Network was excited to attend this energising conference, sharing ideas, getting inspired, and debating what ‘social prescribing’ might look like as it develops in North Wales.

Presentations delivered by people and organisations from across North Wales shared stories of putting social prescribing into action. Approaches varied from social enterprises to community navigation to co-production – with roles varying from Community Links Officers to GP Receptionists.

Margaret Hanson (Vice Chair of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board) reminded us that social prescribing is about prevention and shouldn’t be about a GP focus on reducing demand.

Aaron Shotton, Flintshire Council Leader talked about how these approaches resonate with the community resilience agenda – unlocking the power in our communities.

Vaughan Gething, Cabinet Secretary talked about working with and for citizens, rather than to.
